The news of Sammie Okposo’s death was confirmed by his brother, Joe Praiz.

The singer made headlines on January 24, this year, when he took to his verified Instagram page to apologize to his wife, Ozioma for infidelity.

The apology came a day after a lady based in the United States of America, known only as African Doll, accused him of impregnating her and abandoning her. The incident reportedly happened in 2021.

Following the apology, Okposo who broke into limelight with ‘Wellu Wellu’, a Niger-Delta praise melody, told his fans that he would be taking a step back from his ministry to focus on restoration and seek forgiveness. His most recent performances were in London and Lagos, where he headlined the Sammie Okposo Praise Party on October 30 and November 4 respectively.

The singer had in May this year, escaped death by the whiskers in a ghastly car accident while driving at Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.

“I was saved from the hands of the devil and his cohorts,” he wrote after the accident.

A music producer and psalmist, he was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zamar Entertainment. He released his first album, Addicted in 2004.

He collaborated with many other artistes in the gospel and soul music fields, including popular gospel singer Marvellous Odiete on “Follow You”.

He performed regularly in Africa, Europe, and North America, and curated a series of concerts called Sammie Okposo Praise Party (SOPP). His most last album, The Statement which was released in 2018, was produced by the Grammy-winning Kevin Bond. He recently released a single, “Shine”.
