New Year, New Netflix! In December 2022, the streaming giant released its roster of movies and shows hitting its service in 2023 and it included some eye-catching Nigerian content that viewers should look out for. Shanty Town is scheduled for release on the streaming platform tomorrow, January 20.

When a crime ring collides with thugs on the streets of Lagos, it is bound to be a bloody mess. Shanty Town is birthed from the creative minds of Xavier Ighorodje and Chichi Nworah and is slated to be a six-part series.

Disconnect 2

Disconnect followed a bunch of single individuals as they navigated their way through the turbulent waters of dating and relationships in the bustling city of Nairobi. Disconnect 2 focuses on playboy, Otis, who falls victim to a wedding scam after agreeing to plan a destination wedding for his Nigerian friend.

The cast of Disconnect 2 will be a blend of Kenyan and Nigerian actors. The cast of the first film−Brenda Wairimu, Patricia Kihoro, Brian Ogola, Pascal Tokodi, Nick Mutuma, and Pierre Makena−will be reprising their roles and Nigerian actors Meg Otanwa, Wale Ojo and Tope Tedela will be making appearances.

On the other hand, The Wait is one movie that will leave audiences feeling inspired and emotional. It is based on the book God’s Waiting Room by Yewande Zaccheaus, and it is a faith-based story that highlights the struggle of individuals who are going through life’s problems, all while clinging to their faith in God. Their faith in Him gives them clarity as it is seen as a beacon in times of distress.
