“I Took a Break for My Children” — Bukky Wright Opens Up on Nollywood Hiatus

Following her latest comeback in “Something About Briggs”, actress Bukky Wright, on March 3, 2025, has opened up about her long hiatus in Nollywood.

Speaking in  a recent interview with Media Personality, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Channels TV, the veteran actress explained that she stepped away from acting to focus on her children.

“I didn’t fall out of love with acting and I haven’t done it all. There are still lots I’m still looking forward to doing. I had to take a break for my children. My children called and I had tohad to leave everything to take care of them,” she said.

According to Wright, there comes a time when children need their mother’s presence the most, and for her, that moment was when she decided to leave Nollywood and join them abroad.

‘You know there’s a time in a woman’s life when the children need you more than ever. My children are abroad so I had to leave everything to take care of my children,” she partly said.

When asked about Nollywood’s evolution since her departure, the actress shared mixed feelings.

“I’m gonna tell you that I’m back. Am I proud of the industry? I’ll say vice versa. On professionalism, I don’t feel it like it used to be,” she commented.

Despite her reservations, Wright reassured fans that she is ready to take on new projects and fully return to Nollywood.
