Nigerian filmmaker and documentary photographer Ayo Adams is set to produce an epic stage play titled “Ìyálóde Ìbàdàn” in collaboration with an indigenous language literary community, Atelewo, known for their Yoruba translations and organizing the Atelewo Prize.
The upcoming stage play, which will be directed by Waheed Olamilekan (Orolabi), officially opened its audition call for actors, singers, and dancers on Apr. 18, 2025.
Adams, who also serves as an executive producer, shared the news via his Instagram page on Apr. 9, calling on talented individuals to participate in the audition.
“Are you an actor, dancer or singer? Join us to redefine modern stage play. Be part of the “lyálóde Ìbàdàn” experience,” he wrote.
The audition will be held at the Genesius Museum of Arts Pastoral Institute, Opposite KFC, Osuntokun Avenue, Bodija.
Aside from the audition call, no specific details have been revealed about the plot, venue, and performance dates of the stage play, however, “Ìyálóde Ìbàdàn” is expected to be a rich cultural body of work revolving around Yoruba heritage and tradition.
