Nigerian filmmaker Kemi Adetiba has hinted at the upcoming release of her new Netflix film, “To Kill a Monkey.” The crime thriller, which she created and directed, is among seven Nigerian titles acquired by the streamer in August 2023.
In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Adetiba announced the completion of the film’s trailer, writing: “To Kill A Monkey trailer ready. Only thing now is to press play.”
Produced by Remi Adetiba with cinematography by Kabelo, the film features a prominent Nigerian cast including Stella Damasus, Ireti Doyle, Bucci Franklin, Lilian Afegbai, Bimbo Akintola, Teniola Aladese, Damilola Adegbite, Michael Ejoor, Chidi Mokeme, and William Benson.
“To Kill a Monkey” follows Efemini, an everyday man whose life changes after an unexpected reunion with an old friend. Driven by desperation, he descends into the world of cybercrime, facing difficult choices that challenge his moral compass.
While the teaser is expected to drop later this month, the film’s official release date remains unannounced.
Adetiba also recently confirmed that “King of Boys 3,” the next installment in her acclaimed political crime franchise, will be released on December 25, 2025. The upcoming projects follow the success of “King of Boys: Return of the King,” a mini-series continuation of her 2018 breakthrough film, “King of Boys.”
