The official teaser and poster for Taiwo Egunjobi’s new thriller “The Fire and The Moth” have been released ahead of the film’s world premiere at this year’s Nollywood Week Film Festival in Paris.
Shared with the tagline, “They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind,” the one-minute teaser opens with fire, silence, and dark visual beats, hinting at a story driven by tension, violence, and consequence.
Set in a border town in western Nigeria, the film follows Saba, played by Tayo Faniran, a smuggler who steals a rare Ife bronze head. His actions trigger a chain of events that involve several characters, including a persistent arsonist portrayed by Haitian actor Jimmy Jean-Louis.
The cast also includes Ini Dima-Okojie, William Benson, and others. According to the producers, “The Fire and The Moth” is “an unflinching look at a lawless world, where every decision has deadly consequences.” The film is a UK-Nigeria co-production, with dialogue in Yoruba, English, and Pidgin.
Egunjobi’s last appearance at the festival was in 2021 with “All Na Vibes,” which opened the edition that year. His debut feature “In Ibadan” had earlier screened at the Zuma Film Festival in Abuja.
The Nollywood Week Film Festival will run from May 7 to 11 in Paris. The official screening date for “The Fire and The Moth” has yet to be announced.
