Ayra Starr has reason to celebrate this season. Her hit single “Rush,” released three years ago, has been officially certified Platinum in the United Kingdom by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).
This new certification confirms that the track has sold over 600,000 units, including physical sales, streams, and downloads.
Previously, “Rush” held a Gold certification with 400,000 units sold.
Released on September 16, 2022, as part of the deluxe edition of her debut album “19 & Dangerous,” “Rush” gained viral success and quickly charted in the top 10 across several countries, including France, Lebanon, and South Africa. In the UK, it debuted at No. 24 on the UK Singles Chart.

The song’s massive popularity also earned Ayra Starr her first Grammy nomination for Best African Music Performance at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards. In addition to the UK certification, “Rush” has also achieved Platinum status in Canada and New Zealand, 3× Platinum in Nigeria, and Diamond certification in France.
This achievement comes just after the release of her second collaboration with Grammy-winning artist Wizkid, “Gimme Dat,” which is also performing well on the charts.
The track broke Spotify Nigeria’s record for the most single-day streams by a female artist, with 851,000 streams.
