Ever wondered how many tracks legendary rapper Olamide never made public? According to producer ID Cabasa, it’s over 100—from just his own archive. It’s worth noting that Olamide has worked with many producers, including Young John and Pheelz. Thus, the cumulative is much higher.
Cabasa, the founder of Coded Tunes, where Olamide began his career, explained that creating more than they release is part of their discipline.
“It’s just that discipline that we’ve given ourselves that whether we are releasing songs or not, we just want to show up and put stuff down.”
Perhaps the most important revelation from Cabasa is an often overlooked truth about music production: the release-to-unreleased ratio is at least 1-to-3.
“To do a 12-track album nowadays, songs wey go come go pass 50.”
