Jennifer Lopez and Diego Luna Dazzle in “Kiss of the Spider Woman” Trailer

The official teaser trailer for the upcoming film “Kiss of the Spider Woman” has been released, offering a colorful glimpse into the world of the beloved musical. Directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Bill Condon, the film stars Jennifer Lopez, Diego Luna, and Tonatiuh Elizarraraz, set against the backdrop of 1980s Argentina.

Lopez portrays Ingrid Luna, a classic screen actress who lives in the fantasies of Elizarraraz’s character, Luis Molina—an inmate serving an eight-year sentence. Luna plays rebel Marxist Valentin Arregui, who shares a cell with Molina and changes his life forever.

The teaser trailer weaves a narrative that contrasts the vibrancy of old Hollywood glamour with the bleakness of a dreary prison.

Lopez captivates with her powerful vocals on music composed by the iconic Broadway duo John Kander and Fred Ebb. The pair, known for their work on the original 1993 Broadway production of “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” helped the musical earn seven Tony Awards—including Best Musical. The film’s score is handled by Sam Davis.

“Kiss of the Spider Woman” is independently financed by Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, and Benny Medina through their Nuyorican Productions banner, with Barry Josephson, Tom Kirdahy, and Greg Yolen also serving as producers. Luna takes on an executive producer role as well, alongside Ben Affleck and Matt Damon under their Artists Equity banner.

The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 26, 2025, earning a standing ovation and generating Oscar nominations buzz. It is set for a worldwide theatrical release on October 10, 2025, with distribution by Lionsgate, Roadside Attractions, and LD Entertainment.

“Kiss of the Spider Woman” is also based on the novel of the same name by Manuel Puig and marks the second film adaptation of the book, following the Brazilian version released four decades ago.
