Universal Pictures has released the official trailer for “Wicked: For Good”—the sequel to the 2024 commercial success “Wicked”.
The trailer picks up where “Wicked” left off, but with a noticeably darker shift from the jovial tone of the first film’s trailer.
Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande) remain in Oz, though their lives have taken very different turns. The people of Oz now seek Elphaba’s head, fueled by the lies spread by the Wizard of Oz (Jeff Goldblum) about her animal rights activism. She is now cast as the Wicked Witch of the West.
Glinda however is painted as the Good Witch and loved by the people who see her as a comfort to Oz.
The trailer introduces new beloved characters from the original Broadway musical, including the familiar girl from Kansas, Dorothy, who arrives in Oz to meet the Wizard alongside her companions—the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion. Notably, she wears silver shoes instead of her signature ruby red ones, likely a nod to L. Frank Baum’s 1900 novel “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” in which Dorothy’s magical slippers were silver.

It is still unknown who is playing the pivotal role of Dorothy.
The trailer also teases a possible reconciliation between Elphaba and Glinda following their falling out in “Wicked,” as well as a lavish wedding between Glinda and Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey). The film promises to delve deeper into the political intrigues of Oz, with Glinda, Elphaba, the Wizard of Oz, Fiyero, Nessarose (Marissa Bode), Boq (Ethan Slater), and Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh) at the heart of the story.
Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James, and Sharon D. Clarke also return in their roles from the first film.
Fans are treated to Erivo’s powerful rendition of “No Good Deed,” along with a stirring duet between her and Grande on the emotional titular track “For Good.”
Directed by Jon M. Chu, “Wicked: For Good” premieres in theaters worldwide on November 21, 2025.
