Warner Bros. has its eyes on Willem Dafoe for the lead, with Robert Eggers attached as both writer and director.
Renowned director Robert Eggers is set to bring to life a new remake of Charles Dickens’ classic novel “A Christmas Carol” on the big screen.
According to a recent report, Eggers will write and direct the Warner Bros. Pictures film, while Chris Columbus and Eleanor Columbus will produce it for Maiden Voyage.
Following his role in Eggers’s vampire title “Nosferatu,” William Dafoe is reportedly being considered to play the iconic role of Ebenezer Scrooge.

“A Christmas Carol” is a ghost story that follows the protagonist Scrooge’s harrowing and transformational encounter with the ghost of Jacob Marley and three spirits.
Originally published in 1843, “A Christmas Carol” has become a perennial favorite for adaptation, including Robert Zemeckis’s visually striking 2009 animated film with Jim Carrey as Scrooge, and a gripping 2019 British version starring Guy Pearce and Stephen Graham.
With Eggers’s upcoming adaptation of “A Christmas Carol” and his flair for eerie films, he is anticipated to offer a unique approach to the story, exploring its supernatural and mysterious elements.
