The director encourages Nollywood actors to tap into their creativity and diversify their YouTube content beyond low-budget feature films.
Niyi Akinmolayan Advises Actors to Produce Diverse Content on YouTube
Prominent Nollywood filmmaker Niyi Akinmolayan has shared his opinions about actors who produce low-budget films on YouTube and the limitations of this approach.
In a recent Instagram post on June 12, 2025, Akinmolayan advised Nollywood actors to see YouTube content as more than just the feature films they produce.
“I wonder if nollywood actors and celebs know there’s a lot more they can do on YouTube other than try to produce their own low-budget films,” he wrote.
Suggesting content ideas, Akinmolayan said actors can give their fans a sneak peek into their personal lives outside of work.

He proposed that actors document their daily habits or relaxed moments at home, and consider producing content that showcases personal growth or thoughtful conversations on topics they’re still exploring.
“Don’t fall for the pressure of making your own feature length films for YouTube. Offer variety. You already have the numbers to convert,” he emphasised.
Akinmolayan’s views have sparked mixed responses on social media, with some users applauding his insight while others remain critical.
