Chioma Akpota’s AMVCA Trophy Travels First Class to Her Doorstep

Missing an award show isn’t headline-worthy. But when your trophy pulls up to your doorstep—complete with drama, vibes, and a dash of Uche Jombo—you’ve got a story worth telling.

That was the case for Chioma Akpota, who missed the 10th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards held on May 10, 2025 at Lagos’ Eko Hotel. While the 45-year-old was away in the U.S., her name was called as the Best Actress in a Drama, thanks to her standout performance in Femi Adebayo’s gripping series “Seven Doors”—beating heavyweights like Bimbo Ademoye, Hilda Dokubo, and Gbubemi Ejeye.

But instead of a bland courier delivery, her bestie Uche Jombo decided to go full Nollywood: award plaque, hand-delivered across continents. The AMVCA went business class, straight into Chioma’s loving arms—because real friends don’t let trophies gather dust back home.

Akpotha’s Instagram followers were treated to the full cinematic experience: her emotional reaction, an impromptu “thank-you” speech, and yes, a well-deserved brunch date to seal the celebration.

Who needs red carpets when moments like these exist?
