Doris Ariole’s “The Sixth Sense” Nominated for Outstanding Narrative Feature
Nigerian filmmaker Doris Ariole has earned a special jury nomination for her film “The Sixth Sense”, which was named one of the Top Three Outstanding Narrative Features at the 2025 Essence Film Festival, held in New Orleans.
Written and directed by Ariole, the faith-based thriller marks the first installment in her BTS Story Series. The recognition comes after the film’s global debut at the festival, one of the largest cultural events celebrating Black creativity.

Sharing the news via Instagram on July 7, Ariole described the film as a “gripping faith-based thriller” and reaffirmed her vision to reimagine what faith-based cinema can look like on the global stage.
“The Sixth Sense” stars Eyiyemiolvia Rogbinyin, TheCla Uzozie, Don David, Thelma Uzozie, and Doris Ariole. The film weaves together themes of love, faith, and danger in a suspense-filled narrative.
The film is set to premiere on YouTube on August 8, 2025.
