Award-Winning “Hamilton” to Get Theatrical Release in September
Lin-Manuel Miranda’s acclaimed musical “Hamilton” will make its big-screen debut on September 5 in celebration of its 10th anniversary.
Miranda revealed the release date during an interview on “The Tonight Show “Starring Jimmy Fallon on August 5. Rather than a film adaptation, the version coming to cinemas is a live performance filmed at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway in June 2016.

Based on Ron Chernow’s 2004 biography Alexander Hamilton, the stage musical has won 11 Tony Awards — including Best Musical — and the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The original cast features Miranda as Alexander Hamilton, Leslie Odom Jr. as Aaron Burr, Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler, and Phillipa Soo as Eliza Hamilton.
Distributed by Walt Disney Studios, “Hamilton” will open in theaters across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico on September 5. It will arrive in the U.K. and Ireland on September 26, and in Australia and New Zealand on November 13, 2025.
