The documentary, exploring violent conflicts in Mali, will debut in California this October.
Beware!, a documentary directed by Soussaba Cissé, daughter of the late Malian filmmaker Souleymane Cissé, has been selected for the 2025 Silicon Valley African Film Festival (SVAFF).
The announcement made via the festival’s official page described the selection as a continuation of Souleymane Cissé’s legacy. “Papa Souleymane’s visionary storytelling shaped African cinema and inspired generations. To welcome his daughter’s work on our screen is a profound continuation of that legacy,” the organizers stated.

The film examines the causes of violent inter-community conflicts in Mali while highlighting the resilience of its people amid efforts toward survival, reconciliation, and rebuilding.
Beware! will screen in San Jose, California, as part of SVAFF’s lineup from October 9 to 12, 2025.
