Ay Makun’s “The Waiter” Secures Multiple Nominations At TNIFF

The star-studded comedy film set for streaming on Netflix secured multiple nominations including Best Actor, Best Director and Best Nollywood film.

Ay Makun’s The Waiter (2024) has secured multiple nominations across different categories at the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TNIFF). 

 

According to the announcement, the nominated categories include Best African Film, Best Film International, Best Drama Nigeria, Best Nollywood film, Best Actor in Nollywood/African Film and Best Actress in Nollywood/African Film.

The film’s stars; Regina Daniel, Shaffy Bello and Anita Asuoha(Warri Pikin) will all compete in the Best Actress category. This leaves Toke Makinwa, Rahama Sadau in the Best Supporting Actresses category. 

 

For Best Actor, Bucci Franklin, Ay Makun and Deyemi Okanlawon were nominated while Uchemba Williams and Chris Attoh got Best Supporting Actor nominations.

Other nominations include Best Producer (Darlington Abuda), Best Performance Film International, Best Cinematography (Emmanuel Oputa) and Best Production Design (Mosadoluwa David Olalekan). 

 

Ahead of its September 12 slated Netflix streaming date, these nominations mark a major milestone for The Waiter at the ongoing Toronto Nollywood Film Festival.
