Despite sharp third-weekend drops, Last Rites just overtook The Nun as the biggest outing from the Conjuring franchise.
“Last Rites” Is Officially The Conjuring Universe’s Most Successful Film
After earning $41.3 million globally on its third weekend, The Conjuring: Last Rites crossed the $400 million mark.
On the way, the film surpassed The Nun’s $366 million to become the highest-grossing film in the nine-film “Conjuring” horrorverse.
It also cracked into the Top 10 biggest horror films of all time.
In North America (US and Canada), Last Rites lost 389 theaters on Weekend 3 and thus raked in $13 million—a harsh -50.8% dip from last weekend.
Regardless, it made it past the $150 million threshold, taking the title of the fourth highest grossing horror at US box office post-Covid from Weapons ($149.1 million).
Overseas the drop was similar: -53.4% or $28.3 million from a combined 66-plus markets.
No thanks to Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, Last Rites’ legs are faltering earlier than expected and its projected $520 million finish is now being revised to a $490 million to $500 million run, per Luiz Fernando on X.
Directed by Michael Chaves, The Conjuring: Last Rites is the final film in the Conjuring franchise and features Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga reprising their roles as Ed and Lorraine Warren who tackle a demonic presence haunting a family.
