The upcoming series starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II pays homage to filmmaking, acting, and Hollywood itself.
Marvel Studios has officially unveiled the trailer for its upcoming superhero comedy miniseries Wonder Man, featuring Emmy Award-winning actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
In the newly released trailer, Abdul-Mateen II stars as Simon Williams — a struggling actor determined to revive his fading career by landing the role of his childhood hero, Wonder Man. The story unfolds after acclaimed filmmaker Von Kovak (played by Zlatko Burić) announces a remake of the classic Wonder Man movie, sparking Simon’s obsessive quest to win the part.

“I need to be in this movie. I was born to play this character,” Simon declares in the trailer, capturing his desperation to succeed. Along the way, he befriends fellow actor Trevor Slattery, portrayed by Ben Kingsley, reprising his role from Iron Man 3 (2013).
Beyond Abdul-Mateen II and Kingsley, the series also features Demetrius Grosse, Eric Williams, and Ed Harris. Wonder Man is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and Stella Meghie, with Andrew Guest serving as head writer.

Originally slated for a December release, the eight-episode series will now premiere on Disney+ on January 27, 2026.
