Femi Odugbemi’s “Bar Beach Blues” to Screen at Goethe-Institut Exhibition in Lagos
The Goethe-Institut has announced the screening of Bar Beach Blues, a short film by veteran Nigerian filmmaker Femi Odugbemi, as part of its upcoming Sea Never Dry exhibition in Lagos.
In an Instagram post on October 22, the Goethe-Institut confirmed that the screening will take place on November 1 at the Centre for Contemporary Art (CCA), Lagos.
Directed and produced by Odugbemi, Bar Beach Blues uses Lagos’ iconic Bar Beach as a metaphorical backdrop to explore corruption, moral decline, and the loss of societal values. Known for his commitment to African storytelling, Odugbemi delivers another project that captures the complexities of modern Nigeria through art and symbolism.

The exhibition will also feature the works of several contemporary African artists across photography, visual art, and sound. Among the exhibiting artists are Nengi Nelson, Peter Okotor, Akinbode Akinbiyi, Zaynab Odunsi, and Odun Orimolade.
The Sea Never Dry exhibition continues the Goethe-Institut’s effort to promote African narratives through diverse creative expressions.
