The satirical drama written and directed by Temilolu Fosudo will explore ego, ambition, and survival in Nollywood.
TWF Productions to Debut “The Greatest Actor of All Time” in Lagos
TWF Productions has announced its debut stage play, The Greatest Actor of All Time, scheduled to open in Lagos this November.
Written and directed by Temilolu Fosudo and produced by Wumi Tuase-Fosudo, Chukwu Martin, and Fosudo, the 80-minute satire examines the struggles of actors navigating integrity, ambition, and the compromises that shape Nigeria’s film industry.
Performances will run every weekend between November 1 and 23, with one show daily.
According to Fosudo, the idea for the play began as a screenplay before he decided to adapt it for the stage. “It explores the absurd complexities of being an actor and a stakeholder in the Nigerian film industry,” he said, describing theatre as the ideal medium for bringing the story’s layered humor and introspection to life.
Producer and co-founder Wumi Tuase-Fosudo noted that the play reflects the company’s ongoing interest in stories grounded in artistic and social truth. “Stage is where our acting careers began, and this production holds a mirror to our industry in a way the audience will love,” she said.
For co-producer Chukwu Martin, the story carries a personal weight. “This work mirrors the compromises we make to survive in an industry filled with mediocrity,” he said. “Sometimes you wonder if you’re any different. That’s why this story matters, it feels like watching yourself.”
Set in a modest Lagos apartment, The Greatest Actor of All Time follows Shina Awosika, a once-promising actor struggling to balance his ideals with the harsh realities of show business. Caught between ego and survival, he faces tough conversations with his friend Yusuf and sister Funmi, who challenge his obsession with perfection.
Through humor and sharp social commentary, the production delves into the tension between art and commerce, ego and integrity, and the illusion of success in a fame-driven world.
TWF Productions was founded by Temilolu and Wumi Tuase-Fosudo to tell original African stories across theatre, film, and digital platforms. The company’s short film Tell It No More recently began its festival run, screening at Film in the Park, The Annual Film Mischief, and the upcoming Lagos Fringe Festival.
The Greatest Actor of All Time targets theatre lovers, filmmakers, and creatives exploring the balance between ambition and identity in modern Nigeria.
