The Yemi Morafa–directed heist thriller crosses ₦428 million, joining Nigeria’s all-time top box office earners.
Nollywood thriller Gingerrr has become the highest-grossing Nigerian film of 2025, earning over ₦428.8 million in six weeks at the box office.
The Yemi Morafa–directed heist film, which opened in September, had earlier set records as the highest-grossing Nollywood September release and the biggest non-festive opening weekend of the year.
According to producer and actor Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori (popularly known as Kiekie), Gingerrr has now climbed to the eighth spot on the list of the Top 10 Highest-Grossing Nollywood Films of all time.
“The biggest news of my year! This girl with big dreams now has the highest-grossing Nollywood film of 2025,” Adeaga-Ilori said while reacting to the update on social media. She credited the film’s success to “God, hard work, and a great team effort.”
The female-led thriller, which stars Shaffy Bello, Uzor Arukwe, and Adeaga-Ilori, continues to perform strongly in cinemas, extending its run beyond initial projections.
With its box office performance, Gingerrr reinforces the growing market strength of women-led productions in Nollywood and the audience’s appetite for genre-driven, high-concept stories.
