Bolanle Austen-Peters’ “My Boyfriend Calls Me Ma” Set to Premiere at LITF
My Boyfriend Calls Me Ma, an upcoming stage play exploring love and vulnerability, by Bolanle Austen-Peters, Nigeria’s renowned film and theatre director, is set to debut at the 2025 Lagos International Theatre Festival (LITF).
The upcoming play joins other anticipated stage productions like 99% Virgin, Before I Let Go, Almasihu (The Promised), Echoes of Yesterday, and Home premiering at the annual International theatre festival.
Olamilekan Agbeleshebioba (Laycon), former Big Brother Naija winner and rapper, recently disclosed his role as Ehis, in the upcoming Austen-Peters stage production, which marks his debut.

Alongside Laycon, the play also stars Nollywood actress and producer Efe Irele who plays the character Honey while Actress Tana Egbo-Adelana plays Itoro Pascal. Other cast members include Floyd Igbo, Iremide Adeoye and Kunle Remi
While plot details remain under wraps, Austen-Peters’ My Boyfriend Calls Me Ma play leans into the theme of love, promising intense drama, suspense and vulnerability on stage.
My Boyfriend Calls Me Ma is scheduled to debut with a two day run at the Muson Centre in Lagos from November 15 to 16, 2025.
