Nollywood’s horror thriller The Weekend, directed by Daniel Oriahi, is expanding its international presence with an official selection at the Oslo Films from the South Festival 2025 in Norway.
The producers, Trino Motion Pictures, announced on November 12 that the film will be part of the festival, which runs from November 12 to 15, showcasing works from filmmakers across the globe.
The Weekend tells the story of Nikiya, who visits her fiancé’s family for the first time, only to uncover dark family secrets that put her life in danger. The film explores African in-law dynamics with a suspenseful horror narrative.

The cast features Bucci Franklin, Uzoamaka Power, Gloria Anozie, James Gardiner, Meg Otanwa, and Keppy Ekpenyong-Bassey, whose performances help bring Oriahi’s vision of authentic African storytelling in horror to life.
The film’s selection in Oslo highlights its growing global recognition and reinforces Nollywood’s increasing reach in the international festival circuit
