The Shadow of Greed, produced by Kingsmen Entertainment Productions, has won the Silver Award at the London Movie Awards, an international festival that showcases emerging and independent filmmakers. The win was confirmed in an announcement by the production company.
Released on June 20, 2025, the film features Toke Makinwa, Olumide Oworu, Gabriel Afolayan, Rotimi Fakunle, and Chunmei Wang. The story follows the conflict between original landowners and multinational corporations seeking to profit from oil resources, leaving previously thriving communities in decline.
Exploring themes of corruption, exploitation, and corporate power, the film reflects the realities of oil-producing regions in Nigeria, particularly the Niger Delta.
In its review, The Nollywood Reporter described the film as “an allegory for many real-life Nigerian leaders who broker backdoor deals with foreign corporations to exploit the very people they were chosen to protect.”
The London Movie Awards is known for spotlighting global independent filmmakers and offering visibility to projects outside traditional studio systems. Winning the Silver Award places The Shadow of Greed among the festival’s top honorees.
