British-Nigerian actor and producer Razaaq Adoti is set to make his Nigerian cinema debut with Son of the Soil, an action thriller directed and co-written by British-Chinese filmmaker Chee Keong Cheung. The film is scheduled for release on November 21, 2025.
Adoti, known internationally for titles including The Hard Corps (2006) and Black November (2012), stars as Zion Ladejo, a former Special Ops soldier who returns home after his sister’s death. The character’s search for justice brings him into conflict with a ruthless cartel and entrenched corruption, driving a narrative centered on vengeance and personal redemption.
The cast includes Ireti Doyle, Patience Ozokwor, Emeka Golden, Kehinde Hannah Alagbe, Sharon Rotimi, Toyin Oshinoke, Damilola Ogunsi, Philip Asaya, Taye Arimoro, and Sunshine Rosman. The film was produced by Adoti, Cheung, Wingonia Ikpi, Ioanna Karavela, and Andres Roald through Sovereign Films and Action Xtreme, in collaboration with Boxonia Blueprints.

Son of the Soil has already earned recognition internationally, winning the Audience Choice Award at the AFRIFF Globe Awards. Nile Entertainment will distribute the film across Nigerian cinemas.
The collaboration between Adoti and Cheung marks a significant step for Nollywood’s action thriller genre, combining local settings and narratives with filmmakers’ international experience.
