Burna Boy is in the news again. You guessed correctly that it is for something controversial.
On the night of November 12, 2025, during his show in Denver, USA, he asked a fan in the front row to take his girlfriend home because she was sleeping, and he refused to perform until his request was granted.
Sure enough, social media split itself neatly down the middle. There was the “They paid, they can sleep if they want” crowd, and there were the “Burna Boy does not play with his craft” purists.
Sequel to the social media division, an unbothered Odogwu took to Instagram Live on November 19 to address the controversy, joking to his team, “Did I tell you all to be my fans? I am only looking for fans who have money this period.”
Hours later, on his Instagram story, he doubled down with a full philosophical monologue. He argued that buying a ticket does not entitle anyone to disrupt his craft. He compared himself to a pilot (“Make the pilot uncomfortable, get deboarded”), a teacher (“Pay school fees, still get kicked out for disturbing class”), and a stripper (“Slap my ass and expect me to keep dancing because you threw one hundred dollars at me?”).
In classic Burna Boy fashion, he wrapped it all up with a soft landing: “I sincerely apologise if I am wrong. I am not always right, but I feel right about this.”
There is no sign that this debate will end anytime soon. For now and in the future, anyone interested in seeing the Grammy winner live had better get familiar with the dos and don’ts of “Burna Boy Concert-Going.”
