Zooey Deschanel, American actress and Charlie Cox, English actor will be playing coparents in Prime Video’s upcoming Merv, set for December 10 release. 

 

The plot follows Anna and Russ, an estranged couple who learns that their dog, Merv, suffers from depression because of their breakup. 

 

In an attempt to help Merv find his spark, Anna and Russ are forced back into each other’s lives, stuck in the world’s most awkward co-parenting arrangement that helps them reconnect. 

 

The upcoming rom-com, written by Dane Clark and Linsey Stewart, stars Deschanel of Elf, 500 Days of Summer, Cox of Daredevil: Born Again (Series) including Ellyn Jameson.

Patricia Heaton, known for The Ritual, Chris Redd of Candy Cane Lane, David Hunt of Moms’ Night Out, Jasmine Matthews, Joey Slotnick, Jake Berne, Victoria Blade and Wynn Everett are also included on the cast list. 

 

Merv producers comprise Laura Altmann, Matthew Baer, Roma Downey, Kerri Hundley, Kai Raka, Marc Newland, Colleen Marshall and Jeanette Volturno with Jessica Swale as director. 

 

The unusual American rom-com arrives on Prime Video on December 10.
