Toyin Abraham is set to bring laughter and festive-season fun to cinemas with her highly anticipated film Oversabi Aunty, premiering on December 19, 2025.
Plot details remain under wraps, but based on the title and trailer, the story follows the hilarious antics of a church-obsessed aunty who never minds her own business yet somehow finds time to meddle in everyone else’s affairs.
The film stars Abraham alongside Mike Ezuruonye, Efe Irele, Tana Adelana, Jemima Osunde, Ovy Godwin, Queen Nwokoye, Enioluwa Adeloluwa, Ngozi Ezeonu, Toyin Afolayan, Ozain Ibadan, Sanusi Izihaq, Emeka Okoye, Alyat Olamide, Damilola Oni, and Bianca Ugo.
Abraham directs and produces the film through her self-titled production company, in collaboration with FilmOne Studios. Oversabi Aunty marks her first-ever big-screen directorial outing, following a streak of Nollywood box-office successes including the Alakada franchise, The Prophetess, and Ijakumo: The Born Again Stripper, which she produced.
The project was inspired by Abraham’s antics at the wedding of Nigerian socialite Priscilla Ojo and Tanzanian musician Juma Jux earlier this year. After social media crowned her an “oversabi aunty” for her quintessential Nigerian aunty behaviour, she turned the moment into creative gold, setting the stage for this upcoming comedy.
With heavy promotion since its announcement in September, Oversabi Aunty is shaping up to be a crowd-pleaser. As Abraham teased, audiences should expect “big comedy, family drama, loud laughter, and real life lessons….”
Oversabi Aunty will be distributed by FilmOne Entertainment.
