Ruger is kicking off the year with a brand-new lead single titled Issue. The singer teased the track on social media with a 56-second clip that unmistakably samples Ja Rule and Ashanti’s early 2000s classic Always on Time. With the preview, Ruger taps into early R&B nostalgia while modernising the sound through an Afrobeats lens.
With no official release date in sight just yet, Issue is already shaping up to be another hit for the artiste. The snippet has gained steady traction online, with fans praising the choice of sample as well as Ruger’s slick, melodic delivery over the beat.
Issue will not be his first release of the year. Ruger has already appeared on Bend Am alongside Choke Boi and Fido, which was released on January 9.
The Girlfriend crooner is also currently on tour, with Australia up next. He is set to perform across Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, and Brisbane in March 2026.
