Letitia Wright will lead the British premiere of The Story at London’s National Theatre, with performances scheduled from August 27 to October 24, 2026. Press night is set for September 3.
Written by American playwright Tracey Scott Wilson, the play follows an ambitious Black reporter who pursues a controversial lead against her editor’s wishes, examining race, power and journalistic ethics.
Wright, known for her screen work including Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, will make her National Theatre debut in the production.
She will appear alongside Aliyah Odoffin, Ashley Thomas, Lorraine Toussaint and Wilf Scolding. Additional cast members include Tee Arnold, Donna Augustin, Antonia Bernath, Linseigh Green, Jay Simpson and Unique Spencer.
The production will be directed by Clint Dyer. The creative team includes set designer Anna Fleischle, costume designer Natalie Pryce, lighting designer Paul Anderson, sound designer Benjamin Grant and movement director Lucie Pankhurst.
The Story is part of the National Theatre’s 2026 programme under artistic director Indhu Rubasingham.
