Writer-director Tyler Perry returns with Joe’s College Road Trip, a comedy-drama exploring intergenerational clashes, set to debut globally on Netflix on February 13, 2026.
The film follows Brian, who realises he has been babysitting his grandson B.J. for too long. When his father, Joe, proposes a cross-country college road trip for B.J., Brian reluctantly agrees. What begins as a simple journey quickly becomes a comedic exploration of tension, bonding, life lessons, and a dive into their ancestral Black history.
Perry himself plays Grandpa Joe, shuffling four roles in the film, including younger versions of Joe, Brian, and Medea. Jermaine Harris stars as B.J., while Amber Reign plays Destiny. Supporting cast members include Bethany Anne Lind, Jeremy Gimenez, Millie Jackson, Wil Deusner, Patricia Williams, Deetta West, and Ben Swilley.

Perry shares production credits with Angi Bones and Yolanda T. Cochran, with Netflix handling global distribution of the film.
With this project, Perry shifts focus from his signature character Medea, seen in Medea’s Destination Wedding (2025), Medea’s Family Reunion (2006), and Medea’s Class Reunion (2003),to Grandpa Joe, Medea’s brother, promising a fresh comedic perspective and a new spin-off experience for audiences.
Joe’s College Road Trip streams on Netflix starting February 13.
