The African International Short Film Market (AISFM) will hold its inaugural hybrid edition in April, bringing together filmmakers, distributors and industry stakeholders to advance the business of African short films.
In an interview with The Nollywood Reporter, co-founder Gbenga Adeoti said the market operates independently but works in strategic partnership with The Filmjoint, a separate platform he also co-founded.
“AISFM is a platform I initiated and co-founded separately from Filmjoint, so it operates independently on its own. However, Filmjoint is a strategic delivery partner, playing a crucial role in shaping and executing the film market,” Adeoti said.
Registrations recently opened for the 2026 edition, which will feature curated screenings of African short films, panel sessions on distribution and acquisition, deal rooms, workshops, pitch sessions and networking events.
The move to a hybrid format follows the market’s fully virtual edition held in March 2025. This year’s programme will begin with virtual access on April 29, followed by an in-person gathering on April 30 at CcHub in Lagos.
Founded by Adeoti alongside Kagabo Nkubiri and Theodore Ishimwe, AISFM is positioned as a marketplace dedicated to short film distribution, partnerships and industry visibility across the continent.
