Nollywood music drama Evi will premiere in Lagos on March 22, ahead of its nationwide cinema release scheduled for March 27, 2026.
The film, directed by Uyoyou Adia and produced by Judith Audu, will debut at an exclusive screening event expected to bring together filmmakers, industry stakeholders, and media, setting the stage for its wider theatrical rollout.
Shot using Canon cinema cameras and lenses, Evi reflects a growing shift among Nigerian filmmakers toward using advanced imaging tools to enhance visual storytelling and meet global production standards. The production team noted that the technology was used to achieve detailed imagery and accurately capture African skin tones on screen.

Speaking on the collaboration, Rashad Ghani, B2C Business Unit Director for Canon Central and North Africa, said the company’s imaging tools are designed to support filmmakers in telling culturally grounded stories with strong visual quality.
“Canon’s cinema camera technology is helping filmmakers tell authentic stories that reflect African experiences. Evi shows how the right tools can support the visual and emotional depth of storytelling,” he said.
Beyond its technical approach, Evi centres on themes of identity, ambition, and resilience, unfolding through a music-driven narrative. The film features a cast including Osas Ighodaro, Uzor Arukwe, Omowunmi Dada, Ibrahim Suleiman, Femi Branch, Ariyike Owolagba, VJ Adams, and singer Waje, with cinematography by Barnabas Emordi.

The project arrives at a time when Nollywood continues to expand its global footprint, with productions increasingly combining local storytelling with improved technical execution.
Following its Lagos premiere, Evi will open in cinemas across Nigeria on March 27.
