The Drama, a newly released American romantic comedy starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, has earned $6.4 million on its opening day, marking the third-highest opening day for an A24 release at the North American box office.
Directed by Kristoffer Borgli, the film’s debut places it ahead of Hereditary ($5.14 million) and Materialists ($5.11 million) in opening day rankings.
Among A24’s top opening day performances, The Drama trails behind Civil War ($10.8 million) and Marty Supreme ($12.7 million), which currently holds the studio’s highest opening day record.

Produced by Ari Aster, the film follows an engaged couple, Emma Harwood and Charlie Thompson, played by Zendaya and Pattinson. Their relationship is tested when Emma reveals a secret that disrupts the foundation of their bond.
Following its opening day performance, The Drama is projected to gross over $10 million in its opening weekend. Made on an estimated $30 million budget, the film is expected to rank among A24’s stronger box office performers this year.
