Nollywood actors Daniel Etim Effiong, Efa Iwara, Kunle Remi, Ian Wordi, and Mofe Duncan will lead Stripped, a six-part drama series set to premiere on Africa Magic Showcase on Sunday, April 19.
The series follows five friends whose financial struggles push them into stripping. Etim Effiong plays Kelechi “Kel” Okere, an out-of-work marketing executive. Mofe Duncan portrays Bolaji “The Bear” Babalola, a café owner facing business challenges. Efa Iwara stars as Damien Damina, a music video director whose bachelorhood is disrupted by a pregnant ex. Ian Wordi plays Mensah Makinde, a Ghanaian-Nigerian architect balancing personal and professional pressures, and Kunle Remi is Voke Ovire, a conman racing to free his father from prison.
The friends are recruited as strippers by lounge owner Yvonne after being spotted at a birthday party. The series follows the consequences of their decision as they navigate new challenges and personal conflicts.
Etim Effiong, who also serves as executive producer, said he was drawn to the project because of its focus on men’s emotional experiences. “Men need to catch a break,” he said. He hopes viewers will gain insight into the sacrifices men make for their loved ones.
Stripped premieres April 19 on Africa Magic Showcase (DStv 151 and GOtv 8), with new episodes airing Sundays at 8 p.m.
