Olamide and Adekunle Gold have announced their first-ever collaboration, a single titled “Formation,” set for release on April 9.
Adekunle Gold confirmed the news via his social media platforms, ending years of fan anticipation for a joint record between the two artists.
The collaboration carries significant weight given their shared history. Adekunle Gold was signed to Olamide’s YBNL Nation in 2015, a period that played a defining role in shaping his early career. Despite their close working relationship, the two never released a song together before his exit from the label in 2016.
In an emotional statement shared alongside the announcement, Adekunle Gold traced their relationship back to a defining moment that predated his mainstream breakthrough, describing the forthcoming release as a long time coming.
Since leaving YBNL, Adekunle Gold has evolved from the alternative Highlife sound that defined his breakout single “Sade” into a globally recognized Afrobeats act with multiple albums and international collaborations.
Notably, Olamide has also remained a dominant force in Nigeria’s music industry, expanding YBNL Nation into one of the country’s leading labels while mentoring a new generation of artists.
“Formation” is set for release on April 9.
