Released on April 3, “Clarity of Mind,” Omah Lay’s sophomore album is making waves on Spotify, not just locally but globally.
The 12 song-and-33-minute-long debuted atop Spotify Top Albums Debut Global after two days, joining Asake’s “Lungu Boy” and “5ive” as the highest-ranking African debuts.
The album made an immediate impact upon release. On Day 1, it recorded 4.86 million streams globally, including a strong 3,381,374 streams from Nigeria alone; the latter figure dipped slightly to 2,596,722 on Day 2.
Within its first 24 hours, Omah Lay himself lodged 7.7 million daily streams as an artist, marking the eighth-highest daily peak for a Nigerian act on Spotify and adding to his 3.2 billion all-time streams across all credits on Spotify.
He is also the 11th Nigerian to enter the Global Spotify Daily Top Artists chart (No. 139.), joining an elite group that includes Davido, Burna Boy, CKay, Tems, Rema, Ayra Starr, Olamide, and Wizkid—with Wizkid still holding the highest peak position among them at No. 33.
On the songs front, Clarity of Mind delivered one of the strongest global debuts for an African album, placing four tracks on the Spotify Top Songs Debut Global chart and tying the record for the most entries from a single African project. The songs include:
- “I AM” (#2)
- “ARTIFICIAL HAPPINESS” (#6)
- “COPING MECHANISM” (#9)
- “CANADA BREEZE” (#10)
