Lagos Int’l Theatre Festival Seeks Submissions Ahead 2026 Edition

In preparation for its 2026 edition, Lagos International Theatre Festival (LITF), a platform that recognises depth and talent, is seeking thought-provoking and inspiring theatre plays from theatre practitioners across the world.

The Lagos International Theatre Festival (LITF), known for spotlighting and recognizing theatre works, is officially seeking local and international play submissions ahead of its 2026 edition. 

 

The festival organizers, in an Instagram post, called on theatre practitioners with deeply moving stories that inspire audiences and challenge stereotypes to participate for global recognition. 

 

The submission call is scheduled to run from April 15 to May 15, a period of one month ahead of the official festival happening in November. Same as every year, the festival aims to foster a lasting collaboration between Nigerian artists and the theatre community.

Some of the notable titles that have graced the stage at the Lagos International Theatre Festival include Bunmi Awolowo’s 99% Virgin, Bolanle Austen-Peters’ My Boyfriend Calls Me Ma, Abiola Lepe’s High Octave, and Ade Laoye’s Squad of Champions Academy (SOCA). 

 

Founded by ace Nigerian filmmaker and theatre custodian Austen-Peters, every year, LITF presents itself as more than a celebration of the arts but a platform for creative exchange and a catalyst of cultural diplomacy. 

 

The Lagos International Theatre Festival will hold in November 2026.
