EbonyLife has wrapped production on The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives, the screen adaptation of Lola Shoneyin’s novel of the same name.
The film is scheduled for a nationwide cinema release on Dec. 4, 2026, alongside an international rollout. The project also marks EbonyLife’s return to theatrical distribution after seven years away from the big screen.
Directed by Daniel Oriahi and written by Adze Ugah, the film follows Baba Segi, a wealthy patriarch in Ibadan whose polygamous household begins to unravel after the arrival of his fourth wife, a university-educated woman whose presence exposes long-buried secrets within the family.
Odunlade Adekola leads the cast alongside Iyabo Ojo, Mercy Aigbe, Bimbo Ademoye, Omawumi Dada, Bisola Aiyeola, Mallum Arik, Kunle Remi, Nancy Isime and Uzor Arukwe.
The production is backed by EbonyLife Media in partnership with Genesis Group, Nile Entertainment Group, Silverbird Group and Flytime.
EbonyLife first announced the ensemble cast in January and said details of the actors’ roles would be revealed at a later date.
Based on Shoneyin’s award-winning novel, the adaptation has drawn attention ahead of its release as audiences anticipate its transition from page to screen.
