Jayeola Monje: The Anniversary, directed by Olawale Samson Adebayo, explores love through a spiritual lens and is set to arrive in cinemas on May 22, 2026.
The film is a cinematic adaptation of Jayeola Monje, a popular Yoruba film series produced by veteran actress Jaiye Kuti. This new installment comes 10 years after the original, forming the basis for its anniversary theme.

The story follows Jayeola, played by Kuti, and Dotun, played by Pasuma Wasiu Alabi, who are bound by an ancient spiritual pact. They grow up unaware that their destinies are supernaturally linked.
When fate eventually brings them together, they fall deeply in love, forming a bond that appears unbreakable. However, tragedy intervenes, and death tests the strength of their connection. The narrative draws on the Yoruba concept of Abiku, weaving spirituality into its romantic storyline.
Distributed by Nile Entertainment, the film features a cast that includes Antar Laniyan, Bimbo Oshin, Taooma, Fathia Williams, Ibrahim Yekini, Femi Adebayo, Kuti, Alabi, and Yinka Quadri, among others.
The film is expected to combine romance, drama, and spiritual themes in its storytelling.
