Nigerian director Ansi Kevin is set to release his upcoming feature film Double Cross, a crime thriller starring Bobby Ogbolu, Joshua Nnedu, and Treasure Enagbare. The film is scheduled to premiere on YouTube on June 11.
Speaking with The Nollywood Reporter, Kevin describes the making of Double Cross as an intentional process driven by character development, tension, and emotional grounding.
“Directing Double Cross has been an exciting experience because it sits at the intersection of crime, suspense, and human relationships,” he says. “My creative process began with understanding the motivations of each character and ensuring that every decision on screen felt grounded, even within the film’s high-stakes world.”
He adds that the focus on set extended beyond performance to include pacing and visual storytelling, with close collaboration between cast and crew to maintain consistency in tone and emotional weight.
On set, Kevin says his approach was centered on building tension while preserving emotional authenticity. He also emphasizes that the film’s scale did not come at the expense of character detail.
At its core, Double Cross follows a group of women whose pursuit of wealth, freedom, and a better life pulls them into a world of crime, deception, and shifting loyalties. As events unfold, alliances are tested and trust becomes increasingly fragile.

According to Kevin, one of the film’s strengths lies in its unpredictability, with character motivations shifting as the story progresses.
“Just when you think you understand a character’s intentions, the narrative reveals another layer,” he says. “It makes the journey as unpredictable as it is engaging.”
He also highlights the balance between action and emotional storytelling as a key focus during production, noting that each scene was designed to serve both the narrative and audience engagement.
Ultimately, Kevin says he hopes the film resonates beyond its thriller elements and prompts viewers to reflect on human motivation and trust.
“We set out to create a film that is entertaining and suspenseful while also exploring the human motivations behind every action,” he says. “I believe audiences will find themselves questioning who to trust right until the very end.”
