Lift Me Up, the upcoming short film written and directed by Tomisin Adepeju, is set to make its world premiere at the 2026 Edinburgh International Film Festival in August.
The film has been selected to screen in competition for the festival’s Thelma Schoonmaker Prize for Filmmaking Excellence.
Kemi Lala Akindoju, who stars in the film and also serves as one of its producers, shared the announcement on Instagram alongside details of the cast and crew behind the project.
The short stars Akindoju alongside Alexander O. Michael, Reuben Phiri, Olaniyi Famodun and Tomi Ogunjobi.

At the festival, Lift Me Up will compete alongside films including Mark Chapman’s A Woman of Good Abilities, Devon Peterson’s Finding Home, Katie McGuinness’ BRUVVAS and Sinda Agha’s Grief Room.
Produced by Dallies, LIND Films and Make It Happen Films, Lift Me Up is described as a magical realist exploration of grief and change.

The 2026 Edinburgh International Film Festival is scheduled to run from Aug. 13 to Aug. 19.
