Oyegbile, Ejiogu, Okeh, Bula on shortlist for ANA 2022 Literary Prizes

In preparation for the 41st International Convention and commissioning of the first phase of ANA Hotels and Library, the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Prize judges have released the shortlists for the 2022 Literary Prizes.

The Hotel is a follow-up project to last year’s commissioning of Chinua Achebe International Conference Centre located within the same Writers’ Village.

 

The Secretary of the Association, Maik Ortserga, in a press statement issued October 18, said the winners of the various prizes will be announced at the awards’ dinner of the convention, which is schedule to hold on Saturday, October 29.

 

The International Convention has been fixed to hold from October 26 to 29 at the Chinua Achebe International Conference Centre, Mamman Vatsa Writers Village, Mpape, Abuja.

 

Reacting to his being shortlisted for the Prize, Olayinka Oyegbile, said: “I am excited. The ANA prizes are prestigious and to have made the shortlist is no mean feat.”

 

Speaking on the significance of the nomination, Oyegbile said, “It has gone to validate my writing and I believe this would bring the book (a play) to the attention readers, producers and help send the message in it across to all.”

 

The shortlisted authors and categories include:

Glasshouse – Sumaila Isah Umaisha

 

ANA POETRY PRIZE

I know a thing or Two about Madness – Stanley Ejiogu

The Lilt of the Rebel – Obari Gomba

Memory and the call of Waters – S. Sueddie Vershima Agema

Chant of the Angry – Kabura Zakama

Dance of A Savage – Charles Akinsete

 

ANA DRAMA PRIZE

The Dirty Leap – Olayinka Oyegbile

Omalinze (an Igbo 7) – Ikechukwu Asika

Clipping the Wings – Georgie Iortema.

 

ANA PRIZE FOR CHILDREN’S LITERATURE

The School Chap – Andrew Bula

Bayo and Friends – Modupe Oyetade

The Invincible Will – Amadi Ekwutosilam Njoku

Queen Moremi – Ayo Oyeku

 

ANA/ABUBAKAR GIMBA PRIZE
