Award-winning filmmaker and writer James Amuta is back with another trailblazing film, and this time, it is not about harvesting organs. He took to his social media to tease his latest masterpiece, “When the Monsters Come Out,” a thriller that draws inspiration from the popular cult classics “Kill Bill” and “John Wick”.

Described by Amuta as “one of the most ambitious films I’ve ever written,” the film is set to take a transboundary turn, covering the landscapes of Nigeria and the exotic island of Trinidad and Tobago. Filming has already commenced on the island, with 15 pages of the script already shot.

Amuta exclusively shared with TNR that “” When the Monsters Come Out” is a collaborative effort with Film TT. It is the first of many projects aimed at fostering collaboration between Nigeria and the Caribbean film industry. The film aims to promote both cultures and merge talents from both industries.”

There is no denying the incredible prowess that Amuta possesses in the fields of directing, producing, screenplay, and cinematography. He produced the critically acclaimed Netflix original “Oloture” and wrote and produced the satirical thriller “Collision Course”. The film went on to win two awards at the prestigious Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA). “Black Harvest,” his latest project on transplant tourism, is set to make its grand entrance at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September.

More details about the film’s production, including the cast, crew, and production partners will be unveiled soon.
