NEMCEA 2023 Honors Excellence As It Shapes the Future of Nigerian Media and Entertainment

The second edition of the Nigeria Electronic Media Content Exhibition & Awards (NEMCEA) recently unfolded at the esteemed Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja.

The first day of NEMCEA 2023 featured a series of engaging discussions and presentations. Media professionals from around the world, including luminaries like Somnath Malakar, CEO of Zee Entertainment, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Nigeria’s very own Maryam Apaokagi-Greene, aka Taaooma, took the stage to share their insights.

Among the topics discussed, “Why Brand Building Is Key to Content Creation, Business Growth & Sustainability” took center stage. Attendees were treated to deep dives into the intricacies of branding and its indispensable role in the media and entertainment landscape. Audience measurement and related subjects were also explored, offering a comprehensive view of the industry’s current challenges and opportunities.

Day two of NEMCEA 2023 brought forth a momentous announcement that set the event apart. NEMCEA unveiled its inaugural initiative – the NEMCEA Creative Academy (NCA). This groundbreaking project aims at redefining the future of content creation in Nigeria by providing comprehensive training and networking opportunities for emerging talent.

In an interview with TNR, the project director of NEMCEA, Stephen Alayande, provided insights into the origins of this remarkable endeavor. “The idea for the NEMCEA Creative Academy emerged during one of our Creative Brainstorming sessions. After extensive deliberation, we recognized its potential as a Unique Selling Proposition (USP) for NEMCEA 2023. Consequently, we extended invitations to students and emerging content creators to participate in this year’s project, which we proudly named the NEMCEA Creative Academy (NCA).”

During NEMCEA 2023, the official launch of the NEMCEA Creative Academy was met with tremendous enthusiasm. The NCA aims to empower Nigeria’s emerging generation of talented content creators by offering education, mentorship, and connections with established industry leaders, producers, directors, and top professionals. This initiative seeks to equip the next generation with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel, propelling Nigeria’s entertainment industry to even greater heights.

EMCOAN, in partnership with NEMCEA, is committed to providing the guidance and knowledge needed to empower future generations, enabling them to surpass their predecessors and elevate both the country and its entertainment industry.

The final day of NEMCEA’s second edition was marked by an elegant dinner and award night. This evening of celebration, recognition, and networking brought together industry professionals, content creators, and media experts to honor outstanding achievements.

During the award ceremony, remarkable talents and industry contributors were acknowledged for their outstanding work and dedication to the field of media and entertainment. The event provided a platform for attendees to connect, share experiences, and form valuable connections that will undoubtedly shape the future of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
