The excitement surrounding the 66th Grammy Awards is steadily mounting as the Recording Academy prepares to unveil its nominations on Nov. 10.

This year, the Grammys take a historic turn with the introduction of three new categories: Best African Music Performance, Best Alternative Jazz Album, and Best Pop Dance Recording. Notably, this edition marks the first time the Best African Music Performance category will take center stage.

Amidst a staggering 122 submissions in the Best African Music Performance category, several standout contenders have gained recognition, including tracks like Adekunle Gold’s “Party No Dey Stop,” Davido’s “Unavailable,” and Asake’s  “2:30,” as reported by Chart Data.

Also, following the recent Grammy success of Nigerian artists such as Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Tems, the creation of the new African category ignites hopes for an increased Nigerian presence in the nominations.

As the eagerly awaited nomination list approaches, the Academy emphasizes the pivotal role of its members in shaping the future of the musical landscape.

The 2024 Grammy Awards ceremony is scheduled for Feb. 4, 2024.
