Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy… Score Big in MOBO 2024 Nominations

In a nod to the global impact of African music, Nigerian superstars Davido, Wizkid, Adekunle Gold, Asake, Rema, Ayra Starr and Burna Boy lead the nominations in the Best African category in the Music of Black Origin, MOBO 2024 nominations.
The list also includes talents from South Africa, Swaziland, and Cameroon, such as Tyla, Swaziland hitmaker Uncle Waffles, and Cameroonian American sensation Libianca, emphasizing the rich and varied musical landscape emerging from the continent.
The broader nominations list reveals a tapestry of musical genres, with artists from various backgrounds earning recognition in categories ranging from R&B/soul and hip-hop to grime, drill, and alternative music. British acts like Jorja Smith, Little Simz, and Stormzy feature prominently, demonstrating the continued influence of the UK music scene.
The Best International Act (US) category is a melting pot of global talent, with artists such as Doja Cat, Drake, Travis Scott, and Nicki Minaj receiving nominations, highlighting the cross-cultural appeal of their music.
The awards also recognize achievements in film and television, with notable performances by actors like Damson Idris and Idris Elba, along with a category celebrating the best media personalities.
In addition to individual artists, the Best Producer category acknowledges the behind-the-scenes talent shaping the music landscape, with names like P2J and Steel Banglez among those honored.
