The 26th annual Encounters South African International Documentary Festival is set to bring powerful storytelling to audiences in Johannesburg and Cape Town from June 20 through June 30.
The 10-day festival provides a platform to celebrate documentary filmmaking and the art of creative nonfiction storytelling through cinema. Past editions have featured hard-hitting, award-winning works.
This year’s slate includes titles like “Wild Coast Warriors,” “The Friendship Bench,” “The Return,” “Echoes of Earth,” “Murmurs of Tragedy” and the opening night film “Mother City,” among many others.
Encounters is South Africa’s premier documentary festival, offering a wide range of diverse, thought-provoking films.
Screenings will take place at the Labia Theatre in Cape Town and The Bioscope in Johannesburg. Tickets can be purchased via their website for the prestigious festival, which displays contemporary South African and international documentary features and shorts.
