Prime Video is set to debut its anticipated animated series, “Batman: Caped Crusader”, on August 1.
This reimagined take on the Batman mythology is brought to life by executive producers J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves, and Bruce Timm, with all 10 episodes of the first season available for streaming upon release.
Set in a Gotham City plagued by corruption and crime, the series follows Bruce Wayne as he transforms into Batman, driven by personal tragedy to fight for justice. His vigilante crusade attracts unexpected allies within the Gotham City Police Department and City Hall, but also leads to dangerous repercussions that challenge his mission.
This series builds upon the legacy of “Batman: The Animated Series’, co-created by Timm, which aired from 1992 to 1995 and won multiple Emmy Awards. “Batman: Caped Crusader” promises a new perspective on the iconic story, exploring darker themes and character developments.
Initially scrapped by Max, Prime Video picked up the series for two seasons, making it a key addition to its streaming lineup. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, Bad Robot Productions, and 6th & Idaho, the series will feature beloved characters such as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Dr. Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn, Commissioner Jim Gordon, and Clayface.
The voice cast includes Hamish Linklater, Christina Ricci, David Krumholtz, Jamie Chung, Jason Watkins, and Diedrich Bader.
